I boot in vmware in salix64-xfce 15.0 clear installation.
I download the file source from slackware-15.0 with all other files included there in file folder and recompile the file 5.41 package. Install it and fakeroot do not work. If i reinstall the file-5.41 binary from slackware-15.0 fakeroot is working. It is Weird.

Edit: I recompiled file-5.43 with --disable-libseccomp option and fakeroot is working.

Yes.
Except if your laptop is old maybe is not supported by glibc-2.36. My laptop, lenovo g510 is not working with glibc-2.36. So i do not upgrade.

If upgrade then install libxcvt package to boot on X. It is a new package.

Thank you again djemos. I will upgrade everything. Right now, I'm on a newer (for me!) Acer Aspire 5.

ok, just did full upgrade with no excludes. New kernel, glibc, etc.
So far, everything seems to be working properly :)

Very good news. :-)
fbpanel has been upgraded with package fbpanel-7.0-x86_64-2dj
Also user-settings-slackel-openbox-15.0-noarch-4dj is the new package.
Just copy /etc/skel/.config/openbox/rc.xml to ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml
Log out and log in.
The annoying change (movement) workspace with the middle mouse button or touchpad has been disabled. Now user has to click on one of the four workspaces to change workspace.

I bet it doesn't just seem to work, it just works. Trust me, if it wasn't working you would know it immediately. I have an Acer Aspire 1, obviously older than yours, and sadly it doesn't work with glibc 2.36 (it worked with 2.35). Luckily all my other machines are compatible with glibc 2.36, so Slackel boots and updates as usual.

Code: Select all

True enough :)
My mind was remembering times on systems I wrote that upgrade went fine, then later when trying to start different programs, they wouldn't start for one reason or another. Far different than glibc.
