Hardware compatibility

Post by linocaetani »

It would be interesting to do research about hardware compatibility of PCs, notebooks and netbook than Slackel, so as to share information on the purchase of new PCs on which to install the operating system (particularly care about the compatibility with lower-priced products ). To start I can report the excellent compatibility with the Lenovo Thinkpad T-61 and some wi-fi connection problems (does not work wicd) with notebook Lenovo 575e

This is not specific to slackel but to slackware also. Doing a google search found that notebook Lenovo 575e has a Broadcom wireless card.

On my Lenovo G50-80 I had to put in /etc/rc.d/rc.local
rfkill unblock all
to be able to have wireless with wicd.
Using networkmanager there is no need to do this.
But in some wirelless away from home in a cafe for example Networkmanager disconnect all the time. There is a solution in salix forums which i have to test it.
