Re: latest aaa_glibc-solibs and glibc 2.36 make system unsusable

According to Slackware-Current change logs those packages were upgraded at 3 August. I guess they will fix it soon.
Lucky me I didn't update the last few days :)

Re: Unbound brightness up and down keys

HP laptops used to bind all function keys to multimedia, brightness, etc by default (and they probably still do so). This caused all shorts of problems. There should a BIOS setting to turn this off and make function keys behave normally, with multimedia functions bound to Fn+F<number> instead of F<n...

Re: "Slackware & Slackel" presentation

From the presentation: "Απαιτείται πολύ δουλειά να συντηρείς μια διανομή, πράγμα που δεν φαίνεται στους χρήστες" meaning: "Maintaining a distribution is a lot of work, and that's not apparent to the users" As a programmer myself, I can guess it is a lot of work. But since I never...

Goodbye Slackel

Dear Slackel community, It is with mixed feelings I am here today to announce that I am going to quit using Slackel. After 7 years running Slackel in all my machines, I finally decided to move along. The reason for that is I tried Ubuntu recently, and even though I hated it in the past, I just reali...

Re: Slackel 7.5 review on Linux Format UK - March 2022

Also Slackel Live Installer is not borrowed from Salix. It is developed in Slackel and used also in Salix for installing live salix isos. salix repositories are not used because system will break since they follow different trees (current and stable). Yes, I actually remember the time Live Installe...

Re: Slackel 7.5 review on Linux Format UK - March 2022

In general, a decent (short) review, although I would argue about "there is no partitioner however, so you'll need the included Gparted tool". I thought Gparted is a partitioner (among other things) - and a very good one. When distros provide fdisk or cfdisk for partitioning, reviewers com...

Re: slackel has just been recognized with the following awards by SourceForge

Congratulations Dimitri. Slackel definitely deserved those awards! Just a note though, I see only one badge in the main page, and even that one is at the very bottom of the page. Don't be so humble! I think there should be a section called "Awards" right below the general description of th...

Re: install-upgrade-kernel-gtk

I am used to do things "the old way" (in terminal), but I welcome gui tools such as this one, the simple yet very effective installation gui, and other tools you introduced in the past. They will help Slackel and Salix being more accessible to new users. As it is now, Slackel is actually e...

Re: slackel-control-center

If the user wants to add more apps in Applications folder for example can copy mozilla-firefox.desktop or mozilla-thunderbird.desktop there Good to know that. I actually didn't know anything about qcontrolcenter, since I use the command line for configuring the system. However it is convenient to h...
