Thank you again djemos. I will upgrade everything. Right now, I'm on a newer (for me!) Acer Aspire 5.
ok, just did full upgrade with no excludes. New kernel, glibc, etc.
So far, everything seems to be working properly

I've been unable to upgrade last few days on my older laptop due to MD5 checksum.
Same problem comes up every time.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but this is my third time trying to respond :lol: I already tried removing and installing powerkit. Mentioned in my first post. Oops... just saw that powerkit was updated. Now installed :) I had to copy /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-amdgpu.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf....

$ xbacklight -10 No outputs have backlight property obkey I had to check to XF86MonbrightnessUP and Down to enable. They weren't checked. I typed xbacklight -10 after checking the boxes, and got the same response. I will try again in the morning when I start the laptop again, and will let you know ...

The F keys don't work either.
Now have to reboot to get brightness back up where I can see.
I have to leave for a while (Bible study time). Will check back later tonight, or in the morning (local time)

[SOLVED] Powerkit problem with brightness control
Brightness slider button doesn't work so when I plug laptop into AC power, the screen dims so much it's hard to see desktop. I've searched and searched to find answer but I haven't found it yet. I've even tried removing powerkit and then reinstalling and that didn't work either ... was hoping a conf...
