Re: slackel-control-center

Nice tool, people expect something like that nowadays. For those who don't want to use the command line, it is in Utility -> Dashboard Slackel.

Re: Slackel 7.5 "Openbox"

I guess I don't have anything to do in my desktop/laptop Slackel installations - other than the usual system updates. But 7.5 was what I was waiting for to set up another fresh USB real installation, and judging from previous experience, I knew it will probably be released today. Thank you Dimitri, ...

Re: Wifi seems to freeze the system when throughput is increased

If kernel update solved the problem, there is no need to try another connection manager. I read an article sometime ago from the developers of connman, and they claim that every connection manager has to implement its own drivers for some devices, until kernel supports them. Fortunately the latter s...

Re: Wifi seems to freeze the system when throughput is increased

I had similar problems caused by NetworkManager years ago. It didn't like my wifi usb dongle on an old desktop computer, and caused sudden wifi hangs/resets every few minutes. That's why I never use NetworkManager since then, even on modern laptops. Wicd worked fine, but started to have problems som...

Re: Openbox change wallpaper

Hi dadim, and welcome to Slackel. A common way to change a wallpaper permanently (when setting up Openbox from scratch) is to use nitrogen. However there is no need to do that on Slackel, since the default file manager, pcmanfm, can also take care of it. By default, your ./config/openbox/autostart.s...

Re: Change Grub configuration on a Slackel USB installation

Also this "grub-install /dev/sdd" is wrong since your usb will be sdc on boot. I thought so as well, but I had no way to tell the system I want the real usb installation at /dev/sdc and the live usb at /dev/sdd at boot. Also if it is a 64bit real usb installation then why the message &quo...

Change Grub configuration on a Slackel USB installation

I have a Slackel 64-bit installation on a USB drive which I use regularly when not at home. The installation was done so that it should work on a laptop with one disk drive, so Grub looks for Slackel USB installation at /dev/sdb. However, the laptop died and for now I should use the Slackel USB on m...

Re: grub 2.06 and os-prober

After upgrading packages, I used Dotnew to update configuration files related to grub (among them, /etc/default/grub). This changed the line #GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true to GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false So I unless someone has a custom grub configuration, there is no need to manually edit /etc/defaul...
